Deadlines

Graduate certificate applications are due at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the following dates:

  • October 15 to begin study in Winter
  • January 15 to begin study in Spring
  • May 1 to begin study in Autumn

Eligibility to apply

You must meet one of the following criteria to apply:

  • Domestic applicants with either a bachelor or graduate degree who wish to complete the graduate certificate as a stand-alone program
  • Current University of Washington graduate students may complete the graduate certificate in APEOH concurrently with their graduate degree
  • International applicants who have a previous graduate degree (to complete the program as stand-alone) OR are concurrently enrolled in a University of Washington graduate degree program

How to apply

New applicants or re-applicants

Apply through the UW Grad School using the checklist below.

Current UW PhD or DNP students

If you are a current UW PhD in Nursing Science or Doctor of Nursing Practice student, please submit:

  1. A “Goal Statement” as your letter of intent describing why you are interested in obtaining the APEOH Graduate Certificate and how you will use this training to inform or enhance your advanced nursing career (refer to the online application or instructions for the prompts), and
  2. An academic recommendation, such as one from a class instructor, academic advisor, or supervisory committee chair, who can speak to your interest in and ability to complete this graduate certificate program to sonapply@uw.edu. A full application is not required. To apply, please complete our online survey.

Application checklist

We do not require the GRE for any of our graduate program applications.

All application materials must be submitted by the posted deadline:

  • Online Graduate Certificate application
  • Order transcripts from each college or university you have ever attended
    • We accept unofficial transcripts, but you must submit official transcripts if you are admitted and enroll in the DNP program
    • If you earned a degree from a school, that degree must appear on the transcript with the date it was conferred
    • If you earned a degree from a school outside of the United States, upload an official transcript translated to English and include a detailed credential/transcript evaluation
    • You do not need to include a foreign transcript if you attended a foreign university through a study abroad program and the credits appear on your school’s transcript
  • Resume
  • Goal statement
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Proof of English proficiency if English is not your first language
  • Optional statement
