UW School of Nursing Announces Endowed Professorship Selections

The UW School of Nursing announces that the following selections of faculty members as recipients of endowed professorships have been approved by the UW Board of Regents.

“These endowed professorships are a wonderful way to honor the expertise and work of our faculty.  The recognition and resources that come with each and all of them allow great things to be accomplished to make significant impacts of excellence.  We are deeply appreciative to the donors for their tremendous generosity and commitment to our school,” said Executive Dean Azita Emami, PhD, MSN, BSN, RN, FAAN, and Robert G. & Jean A. Reid Endowed Executive Dean.

The following individuals were selected among faculty who applied for endowed professorships:

Betty Bekemeier PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, was selected as an endowed professor (effective September 16, 2021, for a 5-year term) supported by the Kirby & Ellery Cramer Endowed Professorship in Nursing to enhance the university’s ability to attract and retain distinguished faculty in nursing.

Cynthia Dougherty ARNP, PhD, FAHA, FAAN, was selected as an endowed professor (effective September 16, 2021, for a 5-year term) supported by the Charles & Gerda Spence Endowed Professorship in Nursing to enhance the university’s ability to attract and retain distinguished faculty in nursing.

Monica Oxford, MSW, PhD, was selected as an endowed professor (effective July 1, 2021, for a 5-year term) supported by the Kathryn Barnard Endowed Professorship for Infant Mental Health to enhance the university’s ability to recognize distinguished faculty who advance knowledge related to infant mental health and development.

Jennifer Sonney, PhD, ARNP, PPCCNP-BC, FAANP, was selected as an endowed professor (effective March 16, 2020, for a 5-year term) supported by the Elizabeth C. Giblin Endowed Professorship in Symptom Science to enhance the university’s ability to recruit and retain faculty with expertise in symptom science in the School of Nursing.

Hilaire Thompson PhD, RN, ARNP, CNRN, AGACNP-BC, FAAN, was selected as an endowed professor (effective September 16, 2021, for a 5-year term) supported by the Joanne Montgomery Endowed Professorship in Nursing to enhance the university’s ability to attract and retain distinguished School of Nursing faculty who advance knowledge related to critical care nursing, with special consideration for respiratory and pulmonary nursing.

Mayumi Willgerodt PhD, MPH, FAAN, FNASN, RN, was selected as an endowed professor (effective September 16, 2021, for a 5-year term) supported the Charles & Gerda Spence Endowed Professorship in Nursing to enhance the university’s ability to attract and retain distinguished faculty in nursing.
