Provider-Pregnant-WomanWe offer a graduate certificate in Nurse-Midwifery to experienced advanced practice nurses who want to expand their scope of practice and learn how to provide a wide range of healthcare services for women, including assisting with the birth process as well as routine preventative care.

This graduate certificate is for individuals who are looking to expand their existing scope of practice as an APRN and are currently a clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist.

Students who are interested in study as a nurse-midwife but are not yet advanced practice nurses, including nurse educators, nurse informaticists and nurse leaders, should apply through our Doctor of Nursing Practice track:

Curriculum

Prior to final acceptance in to the graduate certificate, you will meet with midwifery program faculty in order to develop an individualized, mutually agreed upon curriculum plan.

This curriculum is consistent with the requirements for nurse-midwifery preparation as defined in the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) Core Competencies for Basic Midwifery Practice.

Please note that admission to this graduate certificate program is on a space-available basis.

National Certifications

Successful graduates of the Nurse-Midwifery graduate certificate are eligible to sit for the certification exam offered by American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
