UW School of Nursing Receives Top Ranking From US News and World Report

Mar 11, 2019 9:01 pm PST, Seattle—US News and World Report released its rankings of graduate and professional schools across the country, including nursing schools. The University of Washington School of Nursing was ranked #1 among public schools that offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and was ranked #4 overall. Additionally, the School was ranked #4 among public schools that offer a Master’s degree and was ranked #12 overall. This latter ranking is specific to UW Bothell and UW Tacoma.

“We are proud to have once again received the top ranking among public schools that grant a DNP degree and are pleased to have received a very high ranking for a public school that provides a master’s degree,” stated Executive Dean, Azita Emami. She added, “While top rankings are significant because they validate the good work that we do, our School is committed to the most important measure of success: the ability to produce diverse graduates who can advance nursing science and leadership by providing expert, evidence-based, culturally congruent care to address health disparities in Seattle and around the world,” added Emami.

Several specialty tracks offered at the School were recognized as some of the best in the country, including a #1 ranking for a public school with a family nurse practitioner track; a #1 ranking for a public school with an adult gerontology/primary care track; and tied for #3 among public schools with a psychiatric/mental health practitioner track.

This was the first year that the School included data from all three campuses in its submittal. The ranking for public schools that offer a Master’s degree is specific to the Bothell and Tacoma campuses.
