Governor Inslee appoints Husky and health leader, Patty Hayes, as State Board of Health Chair

Patty Hayes (she/her), MN, RN, long-time Husky and current Executive Dean Advisory Board Chair at UW School of Nursing, was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee as the Washington State Board of Health’s new Chair.Patty is a respected and beloved member of the UW School of Nursing community, with over 35 years of experience in public health and policy, recently retiring from service in 2021 from Public Health – Seattle & King County.

She received her undergraduate and master’s degree from the University of Washington (UW) School of Nursing and has served on the Executive Dean’s Advisory Board for years.

Patty has received numerous awards including being inducted into the Washington Nursing Hall of Fame in 2002 and the UW Alumna Summa Laude Dignata Award in 2020.

“I am extremely honored to be appointed by Governor Inslee to Chair the State Board of Health,” said Hayes. “The Board’s work is critical for the health and wellbeing of every Washingtonian.”
