Elizabeth Bridges Appointed President-elect of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses

 

July 1, 2019 Seattle— The University of Washington School of Nursing/University of Washington Medical Center announced that The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) appointed Elizabeth Bridges, PhD, RN, CCNS, FCCM, FAAN as president-elect.

“Liz is an exceptional faculty member with over 30 years of experience in critical care and critical care research. Her work as a military nurse has taken her all over the world and she is an excellent leader in critical care research. I know she will make an outstanding president-elect for the AACN,” stated Azita Emami, Ph.D., M.S.N., R.N.T., R.N., F.A.A.N., executive dean and the Robert G. and Jean A. Reid Endowed Dean, of the UW School of Nursing.

Bridges’ research is related to en route critical care and the integration of cardiovascular monitoring into the care of critically ill or injured. She also focuses on the translation of research into practice, including the creation of the TriService Nursing Research Battlefield and Disaster Nursing Pocket Guide, which provides evidence-based practice recommendations for care under austere conditions. As the Clinical Nurse Researcher at the University of Washington Medical Center, she works closely with nursing leaders and clinical staff and to advance a culture of inquiry and innovation and to bring evidence-based practice to the bedside.
