Miriam Hirschstein PhD
Dr. Miriam Hirschstein is senior research scientist and Director of Evaluation at the Barnard Center for Infant Mental Health & Development. She is PI of a longitudinal implementation study at Educare School of Greater Seattle, a model of center-based early childhood education serving children birth to five and their caregivers. She also teaches online and on-campus courses at the UW in early childhood risk and resilience, and is affiliated with the Early Childhood and Family Studies program in the UW College of Education.
Dr. Hirschstein’s research has focused on implementation of school-based prevention and intervention efforts, especially in regard to social-emotional development and adult-child interactions. Her interests include observational methodology, teacher education, and use of data to inform ongoing practice and professional development in early learning and other school and care-based settings.
