Jenny Hsin-Chun Tsai PhD, ARNP, PMHCNS-BC

Dr. Tsai has two lines of research. Her primary research focuses on sociocultural determinants of mental and physical health of Asian immigrants with the goal to design effective theory-driven, community interventions to promote a healthy US Asian immigrant workforce. She has received funding to uncover new evidence regarding sociocultural factors critical to Chinese and Filipino immigrant worker health and work performance outcomes and to investigate factors and mechanisms associated with disseminating and implementing worker health education in community settings. As an extension of her community-based research and practice, her second line of research addresses dissemination and implementation sciences focusing on uptake of scientific information by community organizations to strengthen organization and community capacity for health equity. In addition to her ongoing research with Asian immigrant workers, Dr. Tsai serves as a co-investigator on Dr. Souza’s community-based participatory research projects aimed at homelessness in older adults.

Dr. Tsai is a well-rounded researcher with well-honed qualitative research skills coupled with expertise in advanced quantitative methods. Her methodological specializations include qualitative and critical theory research; cross-cultural research inquiry, especially with language, translation, and cross-cultural instrumentation; program evaluation; and advanced quantitative methods (structural equation modeling, social network analysis, measurement).

Dr. Tsai engages in undergraduate and graduate education. She regularly provides programmatic consultation, direct service, and technical support in volunteer capacity to local immigrant community institutions. She reviews for journals and federal grants.
