Ira Kantrowitz-Gordon (he/him/his) PhD, CNM, ARNP, FACNM, FAAN
My program of research is informed by more than 25 years of clinical practice as a nurse-midwife. I enjoy using qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting. I focus on reducing stress during pregnancy using mindfulness techniques and understanding how stigma impacts pregnant individuals with perinatal opioid use disorder. As a journal and textbook editor, I enjoy helping authors improve their scientific writing and use respectful and inclusive language.

What do you love about the UW School of Nursing?
The center of my experience and joy of being at the School of Nursing is working with students. I see myself as a midwife for the students, whether they are becoming nurses, nurse-midwives, or nurse practitioners, or scientists.
