Philanthropic Success

The UW School of Nursing raised $5.9 million from 579 donors this year, reflecting strong community support for nursing education and research. Highlights include two major new endowments: the Andrea Conte Endowed Chair in Nursing and the Josephine E. Allen Endowed Nursing Scholarship, supporting faculty excellence and student success.

At UW Tacoma, two new endowments were established through a bequest from alumna Patty Hayes, MN, RN: the Patty Longstreet Hayes Endowed Professorship in Public Health Policy & Healthcare Leadership and a Program Support Fund.

Alumni Engagement

The UW School of Nursing organized six major alumni events this year, starting with Healthcare Heroes with Husky Football, followed by the Dawg Dash, then both the Western Institute of Nursing Conference Reception and Nurses of Influence Gala, a Health Promotion Lecture, and finally Nurse Appreciation Night at a Mariners game. These events demonstrated the school’s commitment to community engagement, professional recognition, and celebrating the nursing profession through both academic and recreational activities.

Advancing Health Equity

This year, our tri-campus community made a strong impact by advancing health equity and hands-on education through community-engaged initiatives. Highlights include expanding care access through partnerships with housing and mental health organizations, empowering underrepresented high school students at UW Nurse Camp, and spotlighting women’s health at the Go Global event. Nursing students shared research on global and local health issues, while pilot programs began to improve rural mental health access. These efforts, alongside projects like Rainier Rising, the GLOW Adventure Camp, and toolkits addressing teen dating violence and BIPOC nursing support, demonstrate our schools’ commitment to community-driven innovation and equity.
