I am a Professor in the Department of Child, Family, and Population Health Nursing, with a joint appointment in the Department of Global Health within the Schools of Public Health and Medicine. My clinical expertise includes HIV care, disaster response, and emergency nursing. I hold a PhD in Nursing Science and an MPH in Health Services from the University of Washington.
My research focuses on health services interventions aimed at improving adolescent engagement in HIV care. I have led interventions and evaluations using standardized patient actors to assess and enhance the quality of care. In my role with the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH), I have directed training in field epidemiology and quality improvement, as well as conducted evaluations of STD/HIV policies and programs in Eastern and Southern Africa.
