Kathy Kroening Ph.D., ARNP, PMHCNS-BC, MN, BSN, RN
I received my BSN from Washington State University then worked as a psychiatric RN in the United States Air force for 5 years before completing my Master’s in psychosocial nursing from University of Washington. I worked in psychiatric settings with adults at Harborview Medical Center and Fairfax Hospital before transitioning to Adolescent Residential Treatment and partial hospitalization. I completed my Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science at University of Washington in 2002. During that time I spent a year working as a consultant to staff in the adult corrections system during development of their forensic psychiatry unit at McNeil Island.
I also began working as a consultant for the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration where I spent 8 years providing case consultation and training to juvenile corrections officers in addition to being the primary psychiatric provider at Green Hill Training School and Naselle Youth Camp. For the past 13 years I’ve had a half-time clinical practice working with patients who are 11-25 and living with complex psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, and learning disorders. I provide medication management, education, individual and family counseling.
