Jaya DeElena DNP, FNP-BC, ARNP
After graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Biology, I taught high school Biology for three years. After completing nursing school, I worked in emergency room services for five years before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. I worked in an urgent care setting before transitioning to the primary care setting where I currently practice. I enjoy taking care of a wide variety of medical topics versus a specific focus and taking care of the entire family. I also enjoy connecting with patients/families and helping them on their health journeys. I truly value being able to help patients/families understand the complexities of the human body through teaching, whether it is for health/wellness or in times of sickness, so each person can find their happiness and health to lead the best possible life.
Jaya is a third-generation nurse and has many family members who are/were in nursing, including her grandmother (Geneva), Mother (Naomi), Stepmother (Leela), and Aunt (Jaishree). She always knew she wanted to be in medicine as a provider, thus why she continued with her doctoral studies at UW to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Jaya has always had a deep fondness and drive to help others. Nursing was a career path where she could blend science and help others in a meaningful way to those around her. She loves learning and would characterize herself as a forever learner.
