I joined the faculty in 1998 and have taught a variety of courses in the DNP FNP track including Adult and Pediatric Health Assessment, Clinical Reasoning, Diagnostic Decision Making and Clinical Skills, Management of Common Health Concerns, Clinical Seminars in Primary Care for FNPs, Chronic Disease Management, Wellness, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Social Determinants of Health and Health Equity, and Practice Doctorate Project. In addition to my faculty role, I have over 30 years of experience as a board certified family nurse practitioner, practicing in a culturally diverse community clinic setting serving a medically underserved population. My clinical experience includes family practice, pediatrics, women’s health, and asthma management/education.
I have been a consultant to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) in the development of the OSCE (Observed Structured Clinical Exam) for NP Licensing/Certification (Case Author and Examiner), and an On-site Assessor and Advisory Group Member in the NP Quality Assurance Program.
I serve as a board member of Strengthening Care Opportunities through Partnership in Ethiopia (SCOPE), a nonprofit organization working to improve health for the most vulnerable through innovative partnerships, leadership development, and measured impact.
