Clinical Assistant Professor - Non Salaried
Child, Family, and Population Health Nursing
I have been working in sexual and reproductive health for the past 20 years. I spent the first ten years of my career in public health, working internationally in Thailand, Haiti, and Argentina, and domestically managing a 5 million dollar Title X grant at a community health center in New York City.
I decided to transition to nursing and then midwifery because I was so impressed that the amazing impact nurses and midwives had on the lives on the individuals and families they served, and I was inspired to join them. After graduating with my ABSN in 2015, I worked as a public health nurse in sexual and reproductive health and primary care, serving low-income and immigrant communities in New York City and then in Seattle.
I graduated from UW with my Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2021 and worked for 4 years as a full-scope nurse-midwive before transitioning to focus on complex gynecology and reproductive health urgent care in my clinical practice. I joined the faculty at the University of Washington School of Nursing Department of Child, Family, and Population Health in 2024 and love my work supporting students here.
Outside of my professional roles, I also lead legistlative advocacy efforts as president of Midwives for Universal Healthcare and serve on the Maternal Mortality Review Panel. In both these roles, I advocate for universal access to health services for all and support efforts to reduce health disparities for all communities.
