Alisha Bhimani
Assistant Teaching Professor
Child, Family, and Population Health Nursing
Dr. Alisha Bhimani, DNP, FNP-C, ENP currently serves as the Interim FNP Track Lead at the University of Washington. She is a certified family nurse practitioner who has dedicated her clinical career working in limited-resource communities where she can provide care to refugees, undocumented and uninsured patients.
Before joining the University of Washington, Dr. Bhimani instructed in the pre-licensure and post-licensure curricula at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. She is also a three-time alumna of Emory University and has contributed multiple years of service at the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), where she pioneered and implemented globally innovative approaches to teaching health communication in order to promote patient safety in the remote Gorno-Badakhshan regions of Tajikistan.
She takes on a special interest in research that centers on the impact of social determinants of health (SDOH) on patient outcomes and health disparities. Dr. Bhimani is deeply passionate about providing compassionate patient-centered care and implementing processes that promote health equity.
Her commitment to education extends beyond the classroom; she has also served as a mentor and advisor for FNP students and undergraduate BSN students. Dr. Bhimani will continue to deepen her impact at the UW School of Nursing.
