Since beginning as a student at the University of Washington, I have been dedicated to educating others on how to provide optimal care for LGBTQ+ patients. My doctoral project helped develop an online trans health resource for providers, which continues to be available at Cedar River Clinics.
I have expanded this work by integrating a racial equity lens into my training sessions, presentations, and lectures. My commitment is to foster a supportive and culturally thoughtful learning environment that encourages the next generation of healthcare professionals to incorporate an antiracist and equity-focused approach in their practice.
There is still much to be done to ensure that all patients receive care tailored to their individual needs. Teaching future nurses and providers at the University of Washington provides a platform for me to advance this essential work. Addressing racial inequities in health outcomes, education, and opportunity gaps in healthcare occupations is crucial to building a more just and equitable system. My goal is to remain focused on these issues through intentional teaching and mentorship.
