As an exercise physiologist, I developed my expertise in working with people with HIV through various research studies, and I am gradually applying this knowledge to other chronic health conditions. Current multi-site studies I am involved in include the PROSPER-HIV, a longitudinal observational study on the influence of physical activity and diet on the symptom experience of people with HIV, and the HEALTH Study, an exercise intervention prescribing high-intensity interval training for older people with HIV.
Additionally, part of my research focuses on sarcopenia among people with HIV. This work began during my doctoral training, and I am currently funded by the National Institutes on Aging (R21 AG082537) and the UW Nutrition and Obesity Research Center to study the relationship between sarcopenia, myosteatosis, and the impact of physical activity and diet on these conditions.
