Since starting as a student at the University of Washington, I have been dedicated to educating others on how best to care for LGBTQ+ patients. My doctoral project contributed to the creation of an online trans health resource for providers, which remains available for reference at Cedar River Clinics.
I have continued to build on this work by incorporating a racial equity lens in training, presentations, and lectures on these topics. I am committed to fostering a supportive and culturally thoughtful learning environment that inspires the next generation of healthcare professionals to embed an antiracist and equity-focused approach into their practices.
I believe that much work remains to ensure all patients receive care tailored to their needs. Teaching future nurses and providers at the University of Washington allows me the opportunity to drive this critical work forward. Addressing racial inequities in health outcomes, educational outcomes, and the opportunity gaps within healthcare occupations is essential to creating a more just and equitable system. My goal is to intentionally focus on these issues in my teaching and mentorship.
