Dr. Miriam Hirschstein is a senior research scientist and the Director of Evaluation at the Barnard Center for Infant Mental Health & Development. She is the principal investigator (PI) of a longitudinal implementation study at Educare School of Greater Seattle, a model of center-based early childhood education serving children from birth to age five. Her work focuses on teacher education and the use of data to inform ongoing practice and professional development in early learning and other school- and care-based settings.
Dr. Hirschstein also teaches online and on-campus courses at the University of Washington in early childhood risk and resilience and is affiliated with the Early Childhood and Family Studies program in the UW College of Education. Her research has focused on the implementation of school-based prevention and intervention efforts, especially regarding social-emotional development and adult-child interactions. Her interests include observational methodology, caregivers, and early learning environments.
