Profile
My research centers upon on biobehavioral and health disparities research, with a particular focus on health promotion and breast cancer survival. In the context of health promotion, I am engaged in research investigating the impact of lifestyle interventions (primarily focused on improving nutrition and physical activity habits) on obesity-related biomarkers relevant to cardiovascular disease and cancer prevention, with a particular focus on underserved communities. With respect to breast cancer survival, my projects focus on (1) racial disparities in breast cancer treatment, including projects to evaluate the utility of mobile health tools for use among racial minorities diagnosed with breast cancer; (2) biologic markers relevant to breast cancer, including investigation of novel hormone biomarkers and investigation of biologic predictors of treatmentinduced side effects among breast cancer patients; and (3) investigation of the impact on survival of cardiovascular medications among breast cancer patients.
