Associate Teaching Professor
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Section of Critical Care Medicine, Seattle Children’s Hospital
I began my nursing career in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in 2000. After gaining experience, I pursued a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center, graduating in 2005 as a pediatric nurse practitioner. I then practiced in the PICU, initially as an instructor and later as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, where I held a clinical appointment for 11 years. During this time, I also completed a post-master’s certificate for acute care PNP and earned my PhD in Nursing.
In 2016, I moved to Seattle to join the faculty at the University of Washington School of Nursing, where I helped establish the acute care PNP track. My research focuses on decision-making at the end of life for pediatric patients admitted to the PICU, and I actively participate in bioethics initiatives.
