Through my roles in teaching, public scholarship, clinical practice, and writing, I critically examine current social justice issues, including poverty, homelessness, trauma, resilience, and the well-being of marginalized populations. Over the past decade, my work has focused on utilizing personal narratives to illuminate significant public policy issues within an emancipatory framework.
With an undergraduate background in medical/health humanities (combining biology and religion with a focus on medical ethics) and a doctorate in international health with an emphasis on health policy, my perspective is inherently interdisciplinary. My primary objective is to humanize healthcare and foster empathy that leads to actionable change.
