Foundations of School Nursing
Skills-based education for aspiring school nurses or those working in schools.
Are you a healthcare professional or educator interested in school-based health? If so, Foundations for School Nursing is designed for you. Gain the knowledge and skills to address pediatric health issues, manage common acute and chronic conditions and provide evidence-based care to students. You’ll learn about the professional school nursing role and also acquire strategies to tackle health inequities in schools.
This course meets the requirements for Washington State Education Staff Associate (ESA) certification as a School Nurse and is approved by the Professional Education Standards Board (PESB).
Course Snapshot
For: Current and prospective school nurses, as well as other professionals interested in working in schools.
Format: Online course with virtual hub meetings and weekly online office hours on Mondays from 5-6 p.m.

Registration Process
- Matriculated/current students can register from February 13th to March 2nd, depending on the status/program.
- Non-matriculated students can register through Continuum College as early as February 12th and as late as March 29th.
- Students who register after the 29th would incur a $75 late registration fee.
- General fees are a total of $454 ($394 tuition, $5 tech fee, $55 registration fee)
