Explore how your support is working to reduce barriers and open doors.

An Investment in the Future of Nursing

Philanthropic giving is at the heart of transformative change. At the University of Washington School of Nursing, bold ideas spark the scientific advances that improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities across the state, nationally, and around the globe.

In this work, you are more than a donor, you are an essential partner in this critical work. Your generosity bridges the expanse between innovative ideas and transformative action. Your partnership continues to open doors of possibility for our students, researchers, educators, and the many communities they serve. Whether you choose to support through scholarships, research, innovative programs, or other areas close to your heart, your contribution supports a tangible, positive impact.

Together, we can shape a future in which nursing continues to be a catalyst for change, sustained by the transformative power of education, discovery, and nursing science. Your continued support ensures that our students and the School have access to the resources necessary to meet the challenges of today as we invest in the future of nursing.

Compass Housing Alliance and Wellpoint Washington: Serving Vulnerable Neighbors

Reinforcing the Safety Net, funded by Wellpoint Washington, places UW nursing students in clinics serving underserved communities. Since 2022, the program has facilitated 14 clinical placements, delivered 488 psychiatric care appointments, supported multiple BSN honors and DNP student projects, and launched innovative services like art-based therapy, while building a skilled, resilient workforce to meet complex mental health needs.

MolinaCares Foundation Partnership: Addressing Mental Health Crisis

In partnership with the MolinaCare Foundation, we developed NSG 570, a comprehensive course on prevention, diagnosis and management of substance use disorders, which will be offered for the third time in Winter 2026. This course for graduate and professional health sciences students from across the UW is equipping students to address addiction disorders across all healthcare settings with non-stigmatizing, evidence-based care. Course modules will also be freely available for continuing nursing education in early 2026.

Groundbreaking Research

Listen to Their Hearts
UW researcher Dr. Vitor Oliveira is creating lifestyle-based interventions to reduce heart disease, the leading cause of death for people living with HIV.

Tiny Beginnings, Big Questions
UW is leading the first study in sub-Saharan Africa on how preterm birth impacts heart health, analyzing data from 4,000+ mother–infant pairs.
