We are #1 public School of Nursing!

Azita Emami

It’s that time of year when the US News and World Rankings are released. While I am always very confident in our fine School, I anxiously await the results every year.

This year, once again, we have received the top ranking among public schools that grant a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. We also received a very high ranking for a public school that provides a master’s degree (#4). Our School rankings are bolstered by our strong specialty tracks. For example, our family nurse practitioner track was recognized as the #1 public track, our adult/gerontology primary care track received the #1 public track score, and our Psychiatric/Mental Health, Across the Lifespan track tied for the #3 public track.

Rankings are very significant because they validate the great work that we do and they help to attract the brightest and best faculty, students, and staff. But, as a School we are much more focused on what I think is the greatest measurement of success – our students. We are committed to producing diverse graduates who can advance nursing science and leadership by providing expert, evidence-based, culturally congruent care to address health disparities in Seattle and around the world.

I am so proud of this stellar School, its faculty, staff, and most importantly, our outstanding students. It is not easy to maintain such high rankings year-after-year, and I know this happens because of how dedicated and committed everyone is to the success of our School.  None of this would be possible without your undaunted efforts to be a world of good to our community.
