Memo 54: Priority for Registration in DNP Courses

The following outlines the order by which students seeking a space in Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) courses should be prioritized:

Rank
Type of Student
Permission of Instructor and/or Adviser Required?
System Under Which They Register
(State Tuition or PCE Fees)
How Will This be Enforced and Monitored?
1 Current DNP students and enrolled CHN-MN students (for their required courses only) No permission required Register based on program that follows their matriculation No enforcement needed
2 Current DNP students using tuition exemption No permission required* Exemption implies state funding No enforcement needed because they are counted as part of DNP enrollment projections
3 Other matriculated graduate nursing students YES, by instructor; instructor can opt to say no Register based on program that follows their matriculation
  1. Student obtains written permission by instructor. This can be in email format. Must include course number, title, student name, instructor’s name, quarter.
  2. Instructor forwards written permission to Tina Valdez in SAS (tvaldez@uw.edu).
  3. Tina checks enrollment in courses. Non-DNP students without permission are removed.
