Graduate Certificate in Infant Mental Health

The Graduate Certificate in Infant Mental Health is on temporary hold and is not admitting students at this time. A decision about next steps for the program will be announced by Autumn 2017. For more information, contact bcimhd@uw.edu.

The program enables students to develop specialized skills in the interdisciplinary field of infant and early childhood mental health. The program is appropriate for professionals from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds including nursing, education, primary care, early intervention (including occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology), psychology and social work.

  • Introduction to the infant and early childhood mental health field and attachment theory
  • Contributing factors to the development of psychopathology in children from birth to three
  • Relationship-based diagnostic assessment and evaluation of infants and toddlers
  • Principles of reflective practice, consultation, and supervision
