Nurse-Midwifery accreditation site evaluation
Azita Emami
You may remember that we were working with the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) to renew the accreditation of our Doctor of Nursing Practice-Nurse-Midwifery and Nurse-Midwifery Certificate Program. This is a 10-year re-accreditation and separate from that of the DNP program accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
The three-day ACME Accreditation Site Evaluation concluded on Friday, Feb. 16, with a meeting where the evaluators read their report. I am pleased to let you know that the report was incredibly positive!
This report goes to the ACME Board, and they will make a decision regarding accreditation in June. I am sure I will be back in touch this summer celebrating reaccreditation of our wonderful Nurse-Midwifery programs.
In the meantime, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to several key individuals who prepared our Self Evaluation Report, gathered exhibits and hosted site evaluators.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Ira Kantrowitz-Gordon, Nurse-Midwifery track lead and UW assistant professor; Dr. Anne Hirsch, associate dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Gail Houck, Family and Child Nursing department chair; Dr. Hilaire Thompson, graduate program director and UW professor; Patrick Tufford, director of Student and Academic Services; and Tyraina Berry, Family and Child Nursing program coordinator.
Special thanks also goes to: Dr. Judy Lazarus, Nurse-Midwifery senior lecturer; Yvonne Griffin, Nurse-Midwifery lecturer; the Nurse-Midwifery students; Graduate School Dean David Eaton; UW Professors Patricia Moy and Mayumi Willgerodt, and the staff of Student and Academic Services who helped with data gathering, website revisions and document preparation.
This re-accreditation process took incredible teamwork. I am proud of the leadership and the efforts of all involved to ensure a successful site visit.
Please join me in congratulating the entire team!
