Happy International Women’s Day!
On March 8 every year, organizations, governments, groups and individuals around the world take an opportunity to celebrate social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This day also has an important call to action to accelerate gender parity.
I invite all of you to join me in embracing the International Women’s Day 2018 campaign theme: #PressforProgress.
As nurses, we have a duty and a privilege to lead positive progress for gender parity by transforming healthcare and advocating for healthy communities and patients.
We are trained leaders with deep expertise in critical thinking and complex problem solving. These skills make us perfectly suited to advance global activism for women’s rights and gender equity fueled by movements like #MeToo, #TimesUp and the Women’s March.
Our school’s leadership in nursing research, education and service improve population health, locally and globally. We are working to ensure everyone’s contribution is valued, every person’s voice is heard and health disparities are eliminated.
Every day, we make important strides for gender equity, and I am proud of your work individually, and collectively as members of the HuskyNurse community. You play a crucial role in empowering and supporting all women.
Keep persisting.
