Mitchell appointment

It is with great pride and pleasure that we announce the appointment of Pamela Mitchell as the permanent executive associate dean for the UW School of Nursing.
As interim executive associate dean, Dr. Mitchell provided capable and visionary leadership, encouraged innovation and fostered a culture of continuous process improvement. Her appointment to the permanent position is a positive and exciting step forward for the entire School of Nursing. Dr. Mitchell will continue her work to develop strong connections between the administrative and academic operations for our school.

Dr. Mitchell also is a tenured professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing & Health Systems; she has been a UW faculty member since 1969. During her long and rich tenure, Dr. Mitchell has filled, and continues to fill, numerous roles for the University of Washington and for the School of Nursing.

Before serving as interim executive associate dean, Dr. Mitchell was the interim Robert G. and Jean A. Reid Dean for the UW School of Nursing from 2012 to 2013. She has served as associate dean for research and was appointed the Elizabeth S. Soule Distinguished Professor of Health Promotion from 1996 to 2008.
