Guidelines for Other UW Approval

Budget approval

It is a good idea to run the budget by the approver prior to asking for GC-1 approval. Approvers will know if a person has any special restrictions on their time or if they are planning a promotion or raise. When the GC-1 is completed, the budget has already been fine-tuned and finalized. Changes will only require the preparers to waste time in repeating that work.

GC-1 Timeline

Give each level of campus unit review one business day. Different levels can approve concurrently, but the Office for Nursing Research will review after all others so it should be counted as another level of review. OSP requires 10 business days for their review.

Example: A grant that is submitted from FCN and includes faculty from pediatrics, BNHS and Biostatistics.

  • 1st Level: PI
  • 2nd Level: Pediatrics, FCN, BNHS and Biostatistics can review concurrently.
  • 3rd Level: The School of Medicine and the School of Public Health can review concurrently.
  • 4th Level: The School of Nursing reviews

The grant should be completing for approval 14 business days before the deadline.
