About the Presenters

Sue Eastgard has worked on mental health issues for 25 years as a clinician, manager and director of crisis services and suicide prevention efforts.  She is currently the facilitator of the King County Suicide Prevention Coalition.   Ms. Eastgard founded the Youth Suicide Prevention Program of Washington State in 1999 and served as its director until June 2011. She previously served as the executive director for the Seattle-King County Crisis Clinic for 3½ years.  She was the President of the American Association of Suicidology in 2002.  Sue holds a masters degree in social work from the University of Washington. She is a Master Trainer of ASIST and SafeTALK, suicide first aid training programs.  

Jennifer Barron has more than thirty years dedicated to working with children, youth and families.  Most recently she worked as the deputy director for the Youth Suicide Prevention Program (YSPP).  Prior to that, she worked for Cornerstone Programs as the Program Director at their Montana and Colorado sites.  Jennifer was the proprietor of a training/consulting company called Therapeutic Intervention and Prevention (TIP) and led workshops and training events in Washington, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado and Montana.  She was also part of the King County Training Network (STARS) and contracted with agencies such as the Washington Department of Social and Health Services and Head Start.  Jennifer is a Master Trainer of ASIST and SafeTALK, suicide first aid training programs.
