NRB Award winners 2011
The Nurses Recognition Banquet is designed to honor our community’s outstanding nurses and nursing leaders. Since 1980 the School of Nursing has presented a Distinguished Alumni Award to an outstanding graduate. In 2004, three new awards were added to expand our partnership with the greater nursing community. This celebration acknowledges the many ways the profession of nursing improves health and touches lives.
We are pleased to announce this year’s nursing leadership award winners:
Distinguished Alumni: Mady Murrey, RN, MN, Vice President and Administrator, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center
Distinguished Researcher: Cynthia M. Dougherty, PhD, ARNP, FAHA, FAAN, Professor, Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, UW School of Nursing
Distinguished Practitioner: Charles Moody, RN, BSN, JD, Senior Computer Specialist, Patient Care Information Systems, University of Washington Medical Center
Lifetime Achievement Award: Margaret A. Hollinger, BSN, Lt. Colonel (Ret.), US Army Nurse Corps
Heart of Nursing Award: Eli and Rebecca Almo, longtime School of Nursing board members and supporters
Again this year, we are holding the Nurses Recognition Banquet in conjunction with our annual Elizabeth Sterling Soule Endowed Lecture. Established in 1979, the Soule Endowed Lecture honors the founding dean of the UW School of Nursing. The annual presentation features prominent nursing and health care leaders and is supported through the Elizabeth Sterling Soule Endowed Fund.
The lecture will feature Dr. Pamela Mitchell, The Robert G. and Jean A. Reid Dean (Interim) with a panel of distinguished colleagues in pharmacology, nursing, medicine, and dentistry on: Promoting Health Through Collaboration– Team-based Science and Practice.
This lecture will explore the roots of interprofessional, transdisciplinary science and practice and the evidence that collaboration and teamwork improve health and the sciences of health from the perspectives of several health sciences professions.
