George Demiris named to Alumni Endowed Professorship in Nursing

George Demiris, professor, BNHS, has been named to the Alumni Endowed Professorship in Nursing, effective for five years. Demiris is jointly appointed in Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems in the School of Nursing and Biomedical Informatics in the School of Medicine. He heads the Master of Science program in Clinical Informatics and Patient-Centered Technologies and has an extensive research program advancing knowledge about the use of information technology to improve the quality of life for older adults. His research on applications that support older adults to remain independent and the use of telehealth technologies for home care, hospice patients and their caregivers is nationally and internationally known. His collegial relationships, research and teaching enhance the work of faculty, staff and students throughout the School of Nursing and the Health Science Schools.
