Students Receive Awards Encouraging Practice in Underserved Settings

Health Sciences Complex

Four nursing students, Siobhan Abraham, Rebecca Birdsong, Susan Foote, and Lisa Taylor have received the SPARX/CHAP Participation Award. SPARX/CHAP is an interdisciplinary co-curricular program at the UW Schools of Health Sciences established to encourage health professional students to consider practice in rural and urban medically underserved settings upon completion of their program. Their projects addressed diverse health topics including advances in HIV/AIDS prevention, health disparities and chronic illness, and other undeserved and rural health issues.
