Introduction to the School of Nursing CMS
The School of Nursing Content Management System (CMS) is built on the Drupal CMS (version 6). It is not, however, a stock implementation of Drupal, but has been heavily customized using third-party and in-house–produced modules. Knowledge and familiarity with Drupal is necessary for any amount of development or customization of the school’s CMS.
Intended Audience
This CMS is intended for Drupal admins and PHP developers who are at least somewhat familiar with the Drupal CMS. It is strongly encouraged that you have a thorough understanding of core Drupal concepts, such as nodes, blocks, and modules, as well as a solid foundation in web development, best practices, and concepts (HTTP, REST, cookies, taxonomy, etc.). Familiarity with the Views and Panels modules in Drupal is necessary to be able to maintain and upgrade this CMS, as they are core to its implementation. Familiarity with UW-IT's Groups Service in relation to access permissions is recommended as well. In addition, being comfortable working in a command-line environment (CLI) is necessary.
Want this CMS for your own site? The link below points to documentation explaining the deployment process. Please read all the documentation thoroughly before deploying this CMS. This CMS is intended to be deployed in UW-IT's web environment. A UW NetID is required.
