Midwifery has been practiced since the dawn of human history.; In fact, the Old English word "midwife" means with woman. A certified nurse-midwife (CNM) has been educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery.
As a CNM, you will be able to provide comprehensive health care for women and their newborns during the childbearing cycle as well provide reproductive and primary care to women throughout their lifespan. Nurse-midwives work in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Nurse-midwifery is an exciting, dynamic profession that offers many options for work in both national and international health care, including:

Graduates of the Nurse-Midwifery track (MN, DNP or GCPAPN) are eligible to sit for the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) national certification examination. Graduates who successfully pass this examination may apply for licensure to practice as a certified nurse-midwife CNM in Washington State or any other U.S. state.
