Change to Official Autumn 2012 Start Date

It has come to the University's attention that the first day of Autumn Quarter 2012, presently scheduled for Wednesday, September 26, coincides with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. Years ago, the University adopted a policy to avoid a scheduling conflict between the Jewish High Holy days and the first day of Autumn Quarter. Since 1979, the academic calendar has been adjusted to avoid such conflicts. The conflict occurring in 2012 was missed, and hence, we are changing the start of Autumn quarter to avoid it.

The first day of Autumn Quarter 2012 is being changed from Wednesday, September 26 to Monday, September 24. The Monday start will not affect the planned end of the quarter or exam week in December. They will remain as scheduled.
