About the MS

The Master of Science program is designed to prepare beginning-level investigators for the testing of knowledge relevant to nursing science. The program provides graduate-level study in nursing science and related fields, modes of systematic inquiry, professional foundations, and theory development. The CIPCT Master of Science specialty provides graduate-level training to health professionals, teaching them to understand, design, develop, and evaluate the use of informatics applications in advanced patient care.

For the Master of Science, students are expected to complete either a thesis that advances knowledge in nursing science or a scholarly project that may address program needs, issues of quality assurance, policy analysis, or clinical problem analysis.

As a student in the MS program, you will complete study through the Clinical Informatics and Patient-Centered Technologies (CIPCT) specialty.

Program Accreditation

The University of Washington Master of Science program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through 2019.
