Advancing Nursing Research
With a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care the UW School of Nursing is the No. 3 Nursing School in research funding from the NIH, with six centers of excellence and over 185 active and pending research projects.
UW Continuing Nursing Education supports excellence in lifelong learning for health care professionals, and is a nationally-recognized accredited provider of contact hours in nursing.

The admissions deadline for BSN, MN, MS, Certificates, and PhD programs is January 17, 2012 at 5:00pm. This deadline remains firm unless the University of Washington officially closes the Seattle campus for business due to inclement weather.

The School of Nursing is temporarily pausing admissions to the following Master’s-level options for the 2012-2013 academic year.
No changes are envisioned for the Master of Nursing entry option for Community Health (which also has a DNP option) or the Master of Science offering in Clinical Informatics and Patient Centered Technologies (CIPCT).
Students who are currently enrolled in our Master of Nursing offerings or our Master of Science independent option are not affected by this change.

About the MSThe Master of Science program is designed to prepare beginning-level investigators for the testing of knowledge relevant to nursing science. The program provides graduate-level study in nursing science and related fields, modes of systematic inquiry, professional foundations, and theory development. The CIPCT Master of Science specialty provides graduate-level training to health professionals, teaching them to understand, design, develop, and evaluate the use of informatics applications in advanced patient care. For the Master of Science, students are expected to complete either a thesis that advances knowledge in nursing science or a scholarly project that may address program needs, issues of quality assurance, policy analysis, or clinical problem analysis. As a student in the MS program, you will complete study through the Clinical Informatics and Patient-Centered Technologies (CIPCT) specialty. Program AccreditationThe University of Washington Master of Science program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through 2019. |
