Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

The Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) specialty focuses on the care of adults from adolescence through old age and across the health continuum. Diverse clinical practice learning opportunities prepare the graduate for roles as a collaborative member of the health care team and as a primary health care provider.

Please note that, though we are currently educating both MN and DNP ANP students, we are now only admitting to the DNP ANP program (effective for summer or autumn start 2012 and thereafter).

As of Autumn 2011, BNHS now prepares all adult nurse practitioners as Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners (AGNP). This is the new name for the ANP program and includes a broader educational and clinical preparation for practice. This population focus replaces three former pathways: Adult/Older Adult NP, Infectious Disease Adult NP, and Rural-Adult NP. AGNP students may enhance their education through coursework in a particular area of interest including courses in rural healthcare, infectious disease and critical care.

In addition, as of Autumn 2011, BNHS will no longer accept advanced practice students into the Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner pathway.
