I have been a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner since 1980’s and I have practiced in various hospitals in Seattle/Tacoma area. I am currently the Lead NNP at the NICU, University of Washington Medical Center. I have been a member of the UW faculty since 2002 and became the Director of the NNP MN program in 2008. I have had a strong interest in clinical teaching throughout my career. I am involved in case study based teaching and on-line/distance student education. My research has been based in clinical practice. Projects have included insulin use in preterm infants, Development of Practice Guidelines for Hyperglycemia Management and Insulin Therapy in Premature Infants, Feeding Practice Care Guidelines in UW NICU, Development of a Sucrose Protocol for Neonatal Procedural Pain.
