I have always focused on caring for women and children in my clinical practice and am interested the most in topics related to this population. I have not done any independent research, but have worked on research grants and am currently on an Interprofessional grant focusing on medically underserved community in a county north of Seattle. The grant focuses on helping families that have been or will be affected by adverse childhood events experienced by the parents with a focus on prevention of these events for the children.
I have been on faculty in the Family Nurse Practitioner program since 2001 teaching physical assessment (adult and pediatric), seminars in women's health and chronic disease, pharmacology, as well as observing and evaluating students in the clinical setting.
Practice, Service, Community Involvement
I have been a FNP for over 30 years working in Snohomish county (north of Seattle) in private family practices while I raised my family. During this time I often precepted students from the University of Washington and then was ready to return to teach in 2011. I have continued my clinical practice more recently at Providence Everett Healthcare Clinic in Everett focusing on providing care to the underserved of Snohomish county both as a volunteer as well as grant funded positions. I also work internationally as a examiner for the Canadian nurse practitioner licensing exams.
